History: 21 August 1911 Mona Lisa was stolen from Louvre. The thief, Vincenzo Peruggia, was discovered and arrested two years later in 1913. The former Louvre employee simply walked into the museum, removed the famed painting from the wall, hid it beneath his clothes, and escaped. [1200x1200]
