History: A group of dead Japanese soldiers on a mountain ridge in Attu, Alaska after their first and only banzai attack on U.S. soil against American positions at night during the Battle of Attu. At the end of the battle, only 28 Japanese defenders out of the 2,900 on Attu survived. (May 29, 1943) [1200x824]
