History: State Game and Fish warden Ray Bell helped care for this bear cub rescued from a fire in the Lincoln National Forest in 1950. The bear was named Hot Foot Teddy, but was later renamed Smokey Bear and sent to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. [1350 x 1057]
