BASEBALL: Nightly Pick 'em: r/baseball Edition! (Part 1: Gauging Interest)

Introduction:Greetings, /r/baseball! I come here today in the dying days of the horrid offseason, as just a humble baseball fan, such as yourself. Fans of all kinds are optimistic, excited, and confident that this upcoming year is finally our year! InsertCubs/Astros/etcjoke. As big of a baseball fan I am, I'm also a big hockey fan. I realized a few weeks ago that when baseball starts, and hockey inevitably ends, one of my favorite daily routines over the past few cold winter months will be ending. The Nightly Pick 'em Game over on /r/hockey is going to be ending in a few months! I mean it's crazy to think one of my favorite things to do every day has to end when hockey does. Why can't someone do the same thing, but with baseball? Wait.... why CAN'T someone?..... I'M SOMEONE!What is the Nightly Pick 'em Game?I'm glad you asked. This is a simple, yet competitive daily prediction game where one NHL game (MLB with us, obviously) of the day is voted on, and singled out (good matchup, or a rivalry, or whatever) and users are asked to correctly pick the winner. There will be a thread posted every morning, and you can submit your pick (via a Google Doc form) up until first pitch of the chosen game that day. For every correct guess, you will receive one point! Simple in theory, but anything can happen in sports! It takes a decent amount of knowledge about the teams, and a bit of luck to flip a coin pick the winners. On top of that we will be keeping track of overall leaders, monthly leaders, plus longest current winning streaks, and even losing streaks. If you’re a holder of one of these you will get a shoutout in the thread for that day.So What Am I Saying?...... Really? I'm saying I want to bring this to /r/baseball! I contacted the creator of the system, /u/vacuum2440 a few months ago seeing how easy it would be to convert everything for the MLB, and after looking everything over, here I stand ready to move forward with the idea. I'm very excited about running it, and I think this sub would have a lot of fun with it.This Is Where You Come In!This is where I'm turning to you to gauging the interest in going through with this. Please let me know if you'd be interested in having this become a thing, and any general suggestions you'd have for the competition. I have a few things I'd like some feedback on specifically:Should a restriction be placed on picking the same matchup back to back days? Say maybe a "Once per series" rule or something similar?Interest in a prize or prizes for the overall winner/monthy winner/etc? Maybe an MLB.com gift card, special flair on this sub, or something else? No solid plans yet of course, just throwing it out there.I'd also be looking for a few volunteers to post the daily threads for me in the off chance I'm not able to. It'd probably be kind of rare, but hey I was just without a computer entirely for about 2 weeks. Now accepting applications, references needed. via /r/baseball http://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/2vl9h9/nightly_pick_em_rbaseball_edition_part_1_gauging/
