Welcome to the latest installment of the /r/baseballHOF Hall of Fame project! Come join us in this week's discussion. This week we move to Japan, to consider some of the greats of Nippon Professional Baseball. I expect this should be an interesting discussion and an opportunity to learn a bit about the history of Japanese baseball. Thus far in this project, we've elected the following eight NPB greats: SP Hideo Fujimoto, SP Masaichi Kaneda, SP Takehiko Bessho, C Katsuya Nomura, 1B Sadaharu Oh, 1B Tetsuharu Kawakami, 3B Shigeo Nagashima, and LF Isao Harimoto. Now, we look at the following players to determine, which, if any, are worthy of enshrinement in Cooperstown:Pitchers:Jiro NoguchiKazuhisa InaoKeishi SuzukiMasaaki KoyamaRyohei HasegawaShigeru SugishitaTadashi SugiuraTadashi WakabayashiTetsuya YonedaVictor StarffinYutaka EnatsuBatters/Position Players:Fumio FujimuraHideki MatsuiHiromichi IshigeHiromitsu KadotaHiromitsu OchiaiKoji YamamotoSachio KinugasaShigeru ChibaTsutomu WakamatsuYutaka FukumotoI think that's the big names, but I'm hardly an expert on Japanese baseball history, so I may well have missed some names-- don't hesitate to speak up if I neglected to include a name you think is worthy. We had no players elected in our last election, unfortunately. Our top vote-getters were Thurman Munson (66.7%), Sammy Sosa (63.3%), Kirby Puckett (56.7%), and Willie Randolph (53.3%). All others received less than 50% support. via /r/baseball http://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/2jzqyc/rbaseball_hall_of_fame_open_discussion_and_ballot/
