NFL: Why are the Pepsi Rookie of the Week awards considered noteworthy while the Pepsi Rookie of the Year award is dismissed?

The thread for the most recent Pepsi Rookie of the Week winner, Kyle Fuller, has a score of 387/91%.Last season, one of Keenan Allen's Rookie of the Week award threads had a score of 401/92%.Yet just a few weeks later, the thread for Allen's Pepsi Rookie of the Year award got a score of 170/77%, and all the top comments are about how the award is meaningless. Both the Pepsi Rookie of the Week and Rookie of the Year awards are fan-voted from 5 finalists. Yet it seems the former is more accepted while the latter is dismissed, even though you'd expect the opposite. Why is this? via /r/nfl http://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/2hp0de/why_are_the_pepsi_rookie_of_the_week_awards/
